Another Birthday

Yesterday was my future hubby's 24th Birthday!!! He had a wonderful morning, he slept in until 11, got to see is future wife on her lunch break, his friend Craig took him out for Chinese food for lunch, they went to garage sales, it was a BEAUTIFUL day, he received multiple phone calls from friends & family and his mom made his favorite for supper (pork chops and homemade mac-n-cheese....mmmm). I was going to get him a blizzard for his birthday present (I know...big spender!), but by the time we were done eating we were stuffed and DQ was about to close. So it's an I-Owe-You present at the moment.

Elizabeth Jean Meiner

So last Thursday Elizabeth (a.k.a. Lizzy) turned the big 1-1. I couldn't believe when I asked her how old she was and she told me eleven. It seems like yesterday I was jumping for joy because I finally had a sister. Little did I know, that she was going to be the coolest, funkiest, and best sister anyone could ask for.

It seems to me that she is the luckiest person e-v-e-r. In the past eleven (whopping) years she has accomplished so many things:

- She won an essay contest to become the Weather Woman for a day. Which was aired on television......I give her big props because there is no way I would ever be able to do that.

- She won a 2 liter of pop, Sox tickets, and other prizes for a paper her and her dad wrote. Which she gave the tickets to Ryan for his birthday since he's a BIG Sox fan!

- She is the second of the Meiner sisters to learn to water ski and does a pretty darn good job at it.

- She was the crown bearer for my Senior Homecoming. She was in the parade, announced at the football game, and attended the Homecoming dance.

- She more recently became a member of the St. Mary's Student Council because of an AWESOME speech she gave to her fellow classmates :)

- She controlled the mic for our wedding shower this past weekend while Ryan and I opened gifts. She WOW-ed the guests with her speaking and wonderful wrap up of the night.

- She always seems to get her picture in the local paper or posted at her school.

- When you are in 5th grade, Mrs. Casson draws NCAA Basketball Teams for each student. Usually each student gets 2 teams to their name. If the Champion is one of your teams, you receive a Homework Pass (which is a get out of jail free card on ANY assignment)....and guess who won this year.....YOU GOT IT! She did....

She is a pretty fun and talented girl. I can remember when my friends and I would get her to do just about anything we wanted. This girl doesn't even know the meaning of SHY.

Lizzy is up for any dress-up day at school. If it's Mix-n-Match day....you know this girl will be in everything under the sun. She isn't afraid to go above and beyond! This picture is from twin day....where her and her friend Jenna went as Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Lizzy (or Liz...as Grace calls her) loves to hang out or talk to her friends on the phone. If I were in 5th grade right now, Liz would be my best friend. I love that her and her friend Mary-Kate have Best Friend Day. This is the absolute, most COOLEST thing ever....and I so wish I would have started this with my friends. Her and Mary-Kate became friends on June 4th (not sure what year), but every year when June 4 rolls around they hang out and give each other a gift. HOW COOL!!!!! One year, one of them bought matching tank tops.

This year was her first year of Volleyball. My dad and I took her to the rec center before the "real" practices began. Lets just say, the ball was consistantly hit to the other court and not one serve made it over the net. It was a rough night, but I knew she would put all she had into every practice and game. The season started out rough, but not even half way through....I would say she was one of the best servers on her team and the only one with the GUTS to try and spike the ball. Those first couple attempts were nerve racking for the family in the stands, but as the season went on....she acquired the nickname Spiker! She rocked those knee pads!

It would be hard to sum Elizabeth up in one word. SPUNKY, CREATIVE, HILARIOUS, AND BEATUIFUL all describe my sister. I hope her personality lasts the rest of her life. She's outgoing, smart and such a talented young woman. I love you Lizzy!!
